You are going to see one of the best destinations for hiking from Romania. A gorgeous place named Apuseni Mountains, where you will be surprised by the breathtaking landscapes, by the cultural diversity of the area and by the interesting caves.
We start our journey with a karst plateau called The Lost World. The mysterious name makes you to want to explore it more and more. It has hidden sights, and mysterious places, but the outside view is one of the best views in the Apuseni Natural Park, The Lost World being one of the main attractions in the park.
The mystery is still continuing with the gorgeous vertical caves. The Natural Park is housing approximately 1500 caves. We will visit the most beautiful and interesting caves in the area such as Avenul Gemanata, Avenul Pionierilor and Avenul Acoperit.
On our second day the marvelous sights, the beautiful sound of the birds and the fresh air, will give us a good feeling to start our day.
The first destination will be an ice cave named The Living Fire, the third largest glacier in Romania. It’s named like that because of the light of the sun that is reflecting in the glacier, giving the impression of a live fire. An impressive thing about it is that the snow and the ice are present during the whole year, because of the altitude of 1165 meters.
For the next destination we will cross the Yellow Gorge and the vertical Bortig Ice Cave which is the second largest ice-cave in the country, right after Scarisoara Cave. It is 54 meter deep and 34 meter wide. The Yellow Gorge has 9 waterfalls and it is an impressive gorge in the Romanian Mountains. It has beautiful sights that will impress you and make you feel disconnected from the real world by making you forget about everything else than this magic world.
On our last day we will visit one of the greatest karst destinations from Romania. It is the Fortress of Ponor Cave, where we will see the interesting walls and the spectacular and popular Balconies. The Fortress of Ponor Cave was declared a natural reservation in 1952. It has three large circles of stone known as dolines, which are interesting because of their structure and size.
The Balconies are in a number of four, and have a spectacular view. Two of them are situated above the third doline and the other two above the fourth one.
Apuseni Mountains is a great destination for hiking lovers. If you want to see remarkable views and hike in a gorgeous area, this could be a great destination for you.
