Halloween is celebrated most in the Western part of the world, but is a well-known holiday all over the world. The holiday is celebrated on the night of October 31 and it represents a time of traditions and superstitions, when people are dressing in costumes and go outside at night to ward off roaming ghosts.
Romania started to celebrate Halloween as a reason to gather with family and friend. On each year, Halloween is also celebrated in one of the most beautiful region of Romania: Transylvania. Here was born Vlad the Impaler (1431-1476), the ruler of Walachia (1456-1462) known for its cruel methods of punishing his enemies. This unforgettable tour aim to make you experience the mystery and legends that distinguish this charming land from the others. The tour last 3 days and will start with destination Sighisoara, continue with Brasov and Bran and ends with destination Turda.
We are going to departure from Cluj-Napoca to our first destination, Sighisoara. Here, we are going to visit The Sighisoara Citadel, an UNESCO World Heritage Site and the place where Vlad the Impaler was born. After visiting the historic center of the city, we are going to have some spooky time by attending the Halloween Party, which includes a special program with themes like Ritual of Killing the Living Dead, Vampires Woman Hunting, Romanian Folk Show and many more dark surprises which test even those who are not afraid of the dark.
We continue our trip with destination Brasov, where we are going to visit the largest Gothic edifice in South Eastern Europe: Black Church. The reason why the Gothic edifice received its current name is because it was partially damaged by fire in 17th century when its walls burned and turned black by the fire. After that, we are going to the famous Bran Castle, which is also called “Dracula’s Castle”. Dracula is a character brought to life by the Gothic novel with the same title (“Dracula”) written by the Irish author Bram Stoker who was inspired by the Vlad the Impaler’s life. The Dracula’s Castle is situated at the entrance of Rucar – Bran Pass and is opened as a museum. We can say that many legends are connected with this authentic castle. For that, we are trying to recreate the mysterious and scary atmosphere at Bran Castle, where we are going to attend the last Halloween Party. Here, we’ll watch a horror movie and then we’ll have fun with Count Dracula until 4 am in the courtyard of Bran Castle.
The next day, we’re going to stop in Turda on the way back to Cluj-Napoca. If you enjoyed the Halloween Party at Dracula’s Castle, you’re going to love Dracula themed restaurant named Hunter Prince, located in Turda. After enjoying a delicious meal, we’re going back to Cluj-Napoca.
