We have two days to discover the heart of Romania, with the most important and well known castles not only in our country, but in the world.
We start the trip from Bucharest, the capital of Romania, and heading to Brasov, a city located in the heart of Carpathian Mountains, with a beautiful architecture, warm people and amazing landscapes.
In Brasov we’ll have a walking tour to be able to admire the amazing Black Church – the largest gothic structure from our country, the Council Square and so on.
After this short stop, we continue to Bran Castle, commonly known as Dracula’s castle, situated in the Rucar- Bran pass.
At the beginning here was a fortress built by Teutonic knights in 1211. Later in 1377 Hungarian King, Luis the Great or Luis I of Anjou, gives the Saxons from Brasov the privilege to build here a castle. In 1388 a castle was finished.
During the years Bran Castle had different owners: Mircea the Elder, Vlad the Impaler, Saxons from Brasov and the local administration and so on. It was a time when the castle was no longer an important and strategic point and it was forgotten for a few years, until 1920 when it was donated to Queen Mary, and she loved it so much that after a short restoration the castle becomes the summer residence of the royal family.
Each of the owners left their marks on the castle and surroundings. But even today, when Bran Castle is a museum, you can see inside furniture, art pieces, and beautiful decorated rooms as it was when the queen lived here.
For a mystical night we will check in nearby the castle in a beautiful hotel, and if you want to see the castle in the moonlight you will be able to take a short walk on the narrow streets around the castle.
The castle was built between 1873 and 1914, and it is one of the most important historical buildings from our country.
French daily “Le Figaro” published a top 5 most beautiful five summer residences from Europe, and the Peles Castle was on the first place.
Our trip continues to Bucharest, the capital of Romania, but we are sure you will be taken with you a lot of beautiful memories and you’ll be back for another amazing experience on Dracula’s land.
