Our great religious experience starts with our first destination, a monastery in Piatra Craiului named ‘’Saint John Jacob Hozevitul’’. It’s a beautiful construction, being the only monk monastery in the area.
A place filled with history located in Ciucea is ready to surprise you with its beauty. The Goga Memorial is our next destination, a museum built in 1967 by Veturia Goga, the widow of a great Romanian writer named Octavian Goga. We will see an impressive collection of things that belonged to the poet. It has over 14.000 pieces that evokes his life and activity, like documents, books or photography. We will also visit the ‘’Virgin Mary Birth’’ Monastery, situated near the Memorial.
The ‘’Saint Pious Paraschieva’’ Monastery is our next stop and is situated not far from Belis-Fantanele dam, being a great destination for religious trips. The monastery is surrounded by forests with tall trees and gorgeous colors that will give you a peaceful feeling.
Our second day is welcoming us with more famous monasteries, one of them being The Ascension Monastery located in a village named Bordesti. It was created to serve the memory of those who lost their lives for the freedom of Transilvania in the fall of 1944. More than 30 soldiers died, after the war was over, people came to this cemetery, the place being called in time „at the heroes”.
We will see another unique place and that is the Monastery called ”Holy Hierarch Basil The Great” from Somesul Cald. It is a new construction built in 2013. It has a beautiful and simple architecture; it is a construction that will amaze you by its elegant appearance.
Our last destination is Floresti, located at 8 kilometers from Cluj-Napoca where we will visit the famous ‘’Acoperamantul Maicii Domnului’’ Monastery (The Pall of Virgin Mary Monastery).
The monastery has some great views because of the nature that is surrounding it. It’s a construction built in Byzantine Style, and the painting is done by the Fresco Technique. A technique of mural painting executed upon freshly-laid or wet lime plaster.
