Romania is well-known for its rich history of wars, invasions, conquests but also its capability to protect the territory from enemies. Discover the famous castles and fortresses of this country in a tour travel across the most important regions of Romania.

Beginning the journey in the capital city Bucharest, we will discover some of the most significant architectural symbols as we arrive in the Revolution Square: The Patriarch’s Cathedral, The Royal Palace, The Free Press Building, The Palace of Justice or the University Library. We will also visit the Palace of Parliament, the second largest administrative building in the world.

On our way to Sibiu we will make a stop at Curtea de Arges, one of the oldest settlements in Romania, which provides tourists with a unique panorama, old buildings and narrow streets. Passing through the impressive Olt River Valley, we will arrive at Cozia Monastery, built by Dracula’s grandfather, Mircea the Elder. Finally, in Sibiu we will visit the historical center with its squares, the Bridge of Lies and the Evangelical Cathedral of Sibiu.

As we proceed in the tour travel, the next attractions we will discover are: the Deva Citadel, an impressive historical and architectural medieval fortress located in Deva; Corvinesti castle, Hunedoara  also known as Corvinilor or Huniazilor Castle, one of the most important Gothic monuments and beautiful castles in Europe located in Hunedoara.

The next stop is to Alba Iulia, a city rich of history in Romania, often called “the other capital”. Alba Carolina Fortress is well-preserved and known as the largest fortress in Romania and in Southeastern Europe. This fortress served as a strategic fortress to protect against the Ottoman Empire attacks. As we continue our trip, we stop to Medias, a city which binds many histories and legends know today by most of the locals.

Sighisoara Citadel is our next destination, located in the old historic center of the town. Built in the 12th century, was further fortified and extended in the 15th century. This is the place where Vlad the Impaler, known as Count Dracula, was born.

At the end of our beautiful journey will stop in Brasov, Rasnov and Sinaia and we will discover the Rupea Fortress, Prejmer Fortified Church and the Black Church, known as the largest edifice in South Eastern Europe, Rasnov Fortress and the Bran Castle , one of the most famous castles from Romania (known also as Dracula’s Castle – see Dracula’s castle tourfind out more about Bran castle history and also about Poenari Castle, the real Dracula Castle). The Carpathian Mountains are forming a semi-circle around Transylvania, creating a unique and fresh atmosphere.

Our trip will end in Bucharest and we hope to see you next time for an unforgettable journey through some of the greatest fortresses in history and best defensive castles in the world.
