Discover Romania’s cultural and historical treasure in a tour travel across the world renowned UNESCO Heritage Sites. You will feel richer in knowledge and left with some amazing memories about these wonderful places and monuments.
We will begin our journey from Bucharest finding our way to Prahova Valley, visiting the royal residence Peles Castle. We cannot miss Brasov, with its major attractions: the Black Church, the White and Black Tower, or Council Square.
We continue our trip with a tour of the most well-preserved and imposing castles and fortresses: Rasnov Fortress, the famous Bran Castle (the home of count Dracula) and Fagaras Fortress. Also, we will travel to UNESCO Historical Center of Sibiu to see Brukenthal Palace, Catholic Church and Goldsmiths Square.
Leaving behind Sibiu we will arrive in Hunedoara to explore the most important Gothic medieval fortress, Corvin Castle. It is found in the top 10 fairy tale destinations in Europe. Another significant attraction in our itinerary is Sarmizegetusa Regia, UNESCO Site representing the most important religious and military center of the Dacians. The last stop in the fortress tour is Fortress Alba Carolina, important Transylvanian baroque ensemble.
On our way to Sighisoara, one of the best preserved medieval towns in Europe and the birth place of Vlad Dracula, we will stop in Biertan village to visit the fortified Saxon church. Crossing from Transylvania to another beautiful region of Romania, Maramures, we will discover the wooden churches. World Heritage Sites, they represent the old traditions and beliefs of peoples over centuries: Wooden church of Ieud, Barsana Monastery, the monasteries in Desesti and Dragomiresti. In Sapanta, the Merry Cemetery is truly one of the most unique sites in Europe that will impress its visitors.
We can’t continue this amazing tour without going to Bucovina, the famous land of Painted Monasteries, almost all of them belonging to the UNESCO World Heritage List. Some of the most significant and beautifully painted are Moldovita, Sucevita, Voronet and Humor. The tourists will definitely enjoy learning about their history and taking unique pictures.
Not to be missed in Moldova region will be Neamt Citadel, one of the oldest medieval fortification in Romania. Another major point of interest in the amazing tour of UNESCO Sites is Prejmer, the biggest fortified church of its kind in this part of Europe, with double walls and dungeons.
Finally, we return to the tumultuous capital of Bucharest after an unforgettable journey through Romania, discovering the remarkable sites worthy of UNESCO’s World Heritage List.
